Make up!
salam my sisters... May Allah reward you all and protect us all from the evil of shaytaan and this dunia.Ameen.. this forum and muxlim site has helped me alot ... and im grateful to all my sisters .... but anyways moving onto my question!
there are different opinions on the rulings of cosmetics or make up , that is for outside use.... the opinion i have heard of is that it is okay 2 use a simple amount of make up,(just 2make urelf look "neat") aslong as it does not change the looks of the person... i.e. not too much of foundation or powder... or any make up that make u look different when u take it off..... but isnt that when u put a litll bit of make up aswell?
Im kinda confused on this.... coz i love wearing Make up!! ... but i kinda feel guilty when i apply a bit of green eyeliner... or a peasized ammount of lipgloss or something?
So i wanted 2 know more about this topic... i tried looking at the islamic question and anser website from sheikh muhammad al mujahid or somthing
Jazakhalla khair......

Hey salaam there sis.
Omg you are only 17...why ruin your skin yet?
you know, me being from a pashtun (afghan) family, they are really strict so before i was married, i was not allowed to wear any kind of makeup or jewellrey at all!!! we werent even allowed to over do it on special occasions!
I did however wear eyeliner but thats it.
But since i got married, at 17, i started a like for cosmetics and so, i have been wearing makeup somtimes. But alhamdulilah, i notice that i get more compliments when i dont have anythng on my face. Even the other day, some teenage girls walked past me staring at my face telling me my skin was so radient and what i used. i told them i just wash my face lmao!
Even at high school i was called 'au natural'.
But to be honest, im kind of getting tired and noticing all these chemicals are affecting my skin so i think i will stop and just apply eyeliner like i used to and maybe some lipstick.
And i notice the more you see adverts on tv for aging skin...it is only because theyve been using chemicals on their face. It just brings out more wrinkles etc.
Please sisters, dont get yourselves addicted to makeup, your own skin is alot better, just drink plenty of water and smile alot (it excersises your face muscles) :P

17, too young to be worried...

I started wearing make up when turned 30, before, it seemed too time consuming for me and to be honest, I didnt know exactly how to put it on my face , so Im jealous with those who are expert with cosmetics
. Well, here's my tip, use make up only for basic need, instead of wearing that heavy thick foundation, why not apply some sunscreen, it's light and will protect your skin from UV light, and when needed, you can add thin loose powder. My mother once said, some lipstick can blacken your lips (scary....), so I still have one that I bought 8 years ago..
cus now I just apply lipbalm everyday. It really helps, esp when cold, to protect dry and chapped lips. You can choose one with light color, peach is my fave. Blush on? C'mon, you got cheeks blushed all the time during autumn and winter, cute, haha...And your eyes? Dont your eyes look beautiful enuff?

Sis, dont be so lazy :P ...you would just re-apply it. doesnt take that long.
Just because i pray and have to make wudu doesnt mean i will always look plain.
Thats just like saying, if i wear a scarf on my head to cover my hair then why should i style, straighten, curl, brush my hair. This is a very lazy way to think. Especially when you have a husband at home. Coz reality is that you have to look a little extra for your man. Maybe for unmarried sisters, it shouldnt be a problem wether they re-apply it.
But i dont think unmarried sisters should be wearing makeup at all. I never wore my makeup when i met my husband and he still married me so dont use the excuse of the guy wont like me.

Is a woman’s prayer wearing make-up considered permissible?Asalamu Alaikum sister, here is proof that we should not wear makeup outside our homes and should only be worn in front of husbands and mahrams,as this may cause Fitnah when we are outside,as one sister said, that girls complimented her skin, image if a man walked past what would he be thinking??? Is a woman’s prayer considered permissible after doing wudoo’ and putting make-up on her face?.
Praise be to Allaah.
If a woman does wudoo’ then puts makeup on her face, that does not matter, and it does not affect her wudoo’ or her prayer, so long as it is not naajis, because purity of clothes and body are essential for the prayer to be valid.
It should be noted that it is not permissible for a woman to wear makeup in front of non-mahram men, because she is commanded to cover her face in front of them and because wearing makeup is an adornment that leads to fitnah. If she does that and then prays, she will have the reward for her prayer but she will have the burden of sin for tabarruj (wanton display).
It says in Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (17/129): There is no reason why a woman should not adorn herself by wearing makeup on her face, or kohl, or doing her hair in a manner that does not make her resemble kaafir women, but it is also essential that she cover her face in front of men who are not her mahrams. End quote.
It also says (17/128): Using kohl is allowed in Islam, but it is not permissible for a woman to show any of her adornment, whether kohl or anything else, to anyone other than her husband or mahrams, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“…and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands…”
[al-Noor 24:31]
And Allaah knows best.

Sis that sister was me. In my post, if you read again, i was talking about when i am not wearing makeup i get more compliments and that is when the teenage girls were complimenting me.
-I simply cannot do anything about what men walking past would think as i have not done anything to attract them eg, wearing makeup etc.
And anyway a good muslim man should not be staring into my face to notice my skin especially when i have no makeup on. He should be lowering his gaze!
I was mearly pointing out that the young generation of girls are now into cosmetics and act like they cannot live with out it as they are copying the non muslims.
-Well i ask them to also notice the amount of tv comercials which promote anti-aging creams, wrinkle creams etc etc. Because that is what you will be hanging onto if you continue with the chemicals that they put in these cosmetics.
And i agree with you on the part of makeup only for the husband at home or also if you going out with him.

The whole make up debate amuses me. Doesnt a muslim woman cover up to hide her beauty? Then why would you wear makeup doesn't that just defeat the purpose? Makeup is used to draw attention and display beauty! Makeup is distorting the beauty that allah gives you naturally. Besides its bad for your skin and is such a hassel as you preform wudu.
However as for a SMALL & SIMPLE ( amount of kohl that is fine. Kohl however is not premissable during prayer.

It is Sunnah to wear Khol, and it is permissable whilst fasting and prayer. It doesn't do any harm.

Why is Khol not permissable during prayer anyway if you say so?
